RECOMMENDED FEEDING GUIDE-see link to view
We continue to get heaps of emails, messages, and letters coming in from people who have converted to our recommended feeding guide, telling us of the phenomenal positive changes to their horses health and happiness that they have achieved since being on it including........
Oh My Word-After a hard year with medical and behavioural problems, I finally have my horse back after using this diet, which is just fantastic and has made such a major difference to my horses health and behaviour-he is back to his reliable, calm self again-and we just find it so easy too-thanks so much to the NATURAL HORSE TEAM xxx
I was initially sceptical of using this diet as I've used so many over the years but I have simply had to eat my words at the amazing results I have seen with my horses. They are in the best shape of their lives on this, and look stunning. Highly recommended to all.
I have tried every diet, potion, feed, mineral mix and more to try to stop my mare from head-shaking~with only disappointing results, UNTIL NOW!!! Within 5 days of being on this diet, everything changed for the better with my horse-she is now back to the sweet girl I bought 5 years ago, who is happy, relaxed and willing, with no more head-shaking-YOUR DIET IS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE-thanks so much for giving me my horse back :)
I've been feeding my horse your anti inflammation diet since Christmas and he is like never before-he's now calm and relaxed, and all the mud fever that has plagued him for years has totally disappeared. All my friends are asking what I'm doing, and I have several of them on it now too who are all enjoying equally great results-we can't thankyou enough-very highly recommended.
I have a very Happy and Healthy horse from feeding him the good stuff that you have recommended, and I am a really happy rider because of it-thanks NATURAL HORSE-you guys really do know your stuff.
OMG-the changes to my horse are out of this world since being on your feeding guide-he was previously grumpy and difficult in all I did with him. Whereas now he is happy and willing, and is in the best shape of his life from it too. All of my friends have commented on how stunning he looks, which has been a real bonus. I'm a very happy rider thanks to your excellent diet and will continue with this forever.
Wow-what a difference!!!I now realise I was previously feeding my horse a cocktail of total crap which has hindered his health rather than helped it. As now he is on your great anti inflammation diet he is a changed boy-and is so happy and obliging, plus he looks
fantastic on it too.
I have paid professional nutritionists, the world over and not seen the excellent results that I've seen from the fabulous anti inflammation diet which you recommended for my allergy ridden horse. I'm so impressed with the results that I'm now using it on all of my 12 horses, to equally as impressive results-thanks Tracy-you are a total star in your field, and we all appreciate it :)
This has saved me a complete fortune from all the gimmicky feeds, supplements, lotions and add ons that I was previously feeding my horse before -and all only to only mediocre results too :(. The NATURAL HORSE RECOMMENDED DIET is working a treat and I'm seeing tangible health benefits to all my horses who are on it.....and all without the high price-tag that I've paid in the past. We're very thankful-thanks guys.
We cannot shout about this feeding guide enough as it has saved our horses life. We've had a horse plagued by ill health and allergies etc...and tried every thing available before we finally found Tracy's miracle guide, which has changed every thing for the better for us-our boy is now relaxed and happy, and no more head flicking or rubbing himself raw-we are so pleased-thanks NATURAL HORSE NZ.
WHY FEED OUR RECOMMENDED GUIDE?
Sadly horses all over the country are suffering from issues associated with being fed the wrong foods.....and the feed manufacturers continue to bombard us with careful marketing in order to get us to buy, buy, and buy all their products-good or bad.....and with very little hard facts to what we are actually buying for our beloved equine friends.
So we continue to try and test them all through our own independent research in a bid to help more horses get a better deal from their foods....and so far the results haven't been that great for most feeds coming out as just ok, rather than good or great for our horses :(
Therefore we have placed our own feeding regime below for you as a guide to help you get the best from your horses health in a jargon free and economical way. This is a anti inflammation diet and works well on all horses to reduce inflammation within the digestive tract, which provides benefits to a host of illnesses and ailments. It is also a LOW GI diet so it serves to provide a slow release source of long lasting and calming energy to your horse, as to prevent spikes in his/her insulin levels which can lead to causing fizzy behaviour. It has turned hundreds of horses around-from being high energy difficult horses to calm healthy equine friends. We use the same diet in different amounts to suit many individual horses needs.
All horses at our centre are on this diet are in excellent health and also of a calm disposition too. The bonus is that we rarely have the need to see a vet apart from for medical needs of our new edition rescue horses.
The amounts shown are suited to a average sized horse in light to medium work.
Please be aware ALL horses are different and you may have to change the amounts to suit your horses individual metabolism and activity levels.
NATURAL HORSE NZ
ANTI INFLAMMATION EQUINE DIET
STAPLE DIET -we use slow feed haynets -available on this link SHOP-OTHER PAGE,
to provide hay 24/7 to all our horses, and we top up twice a day...we recommend using plain meadow hay without clover. Our own nets are placed all over our tracked grazing system as to encourage our herd to forage for their food and therefore move around more.....but work well placed at a regular feeding station too.
DAILY BUCKET FEED:
this should not be a big meal ....but is necessary to provide nutrients and supplements missing from your horses other feed sources....
USE A STAPLE CARRIER-this component of the feed should be used purely as a carrier to get the other ingredients into your horses system. We use a cupped handful (2 hands together) of a low gi forage such as plain meadow chaff or oaten chaff, or a mix of the 2. Please do not use Lucerne as we find that for many horses it is heating and often causes allergies. This plain chaff carrier works well as all offer a baseline low sugar feed and source of fibre....
30-50ml of cold pressed flaxseed oil:this is the only oil to use with horses as it provides so many fabulous nutrients, without furring arteries as with many other oils and fats..... it works to reduce inflammation in the digestive system due to it being a whopping 58% omega 3's,which is a natural source of Alpha Linolenic Acid, that also serves to help joint, coat, hoof and heart health-we buy ours for $50 for 5 litres from most local farmlands.
Upto 250G of Flaxseed Flakes -per horse per day-these area great source of fibre, and are the best pelleted feed to give to your horse due to being 100% natural with no chemicals or fillers....they don't need to be soaked so are easy to use-they significantly boost your horses anti inflammation diet even further as they are another great source of omega 3's -we use the fourflax brand available with free shipping from the fourflax website, which are expensive at around $60 per 20kg bag but thankfully a little does go a long way and these will last a long time, so they are more economical than you might think :) Please note Miniature horses will only need around 50-75g per day each of these. 25ml capful of apple cider vinegar -a great source of proteins, enzymes and friendly bacteria-we have found this to be beneficial to the digestive system and it can also help to reduce biting insects within horses too 20-30g of our-MycoToxin Binder with a separate dose of our Natural Horse Minerals and Vitamin Formula-see our supplements pages for info on our pure minerals....THIS NEEDS TO BE USED FOR A MINIMUM OF 2 WEEKS INITIALLY to mop up all active toxins and address any mineral imbalanced, then we recommend to go onto the ALL IN 1 MIX below for maintenance. 1 heaped teaspoon of Himalayan salt-which provides 84 trace minerals-please do not use any other type of salt-this is in addition to using salt licks too-see our supplements page to buy for an affordable rate
BELOW ARE OUR RECOMMENDED "EXTRA FEED" OPTIONS FOR HORSES IN WORK, OR POOR DOERS/OLDER HORSES OR REHAB HORSES ETC....
250g-1kg of Maxisoy Pellets-or Betabeet Flakes-or a mixture of both-both of these add-on feeds are made with a 5-1 ratio of water-these are an excellent source of extra calories, and boost your horses diet with a low gi forage for horses that need more feeds without breaking the bank-the warning with this product though is that it must be allowed to swell in the bucket, and never in the horses gut, so use plenty of water with it to let that happen-it only takes 5-10 minutes to swell so its easy to use, and a 20/25kg bag makes up a whopping 100-125kg of feed if mixed this way.
*PLEASE MIX WELL WITH WATER.
These could also be the used of 500g-1kg daily of a product called Muscle and Shine for horses who need more calories or another choice could be Low Gi Sport-both are low sugar feeds.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO GIVE YOUR HORSES ALL 4 OF THESE PRODUCTS-these are merely displayed as potential packeted feed options for you to choose from.
PLEASE NOTE-we do not recommend any other additional food sources or products/supplements, and would advise against using other foodstuffs as they can wreck the benefits of this excellent diet, which is all your NZ horse or pony needs!
All our horses have access to a tracked grazing system 24/7 with a field shelter and trees to act as a windbreak.
Please note that although we don't use rugs with our horses ourselves, we are not advocating that you let your poor horse shiver by being staunch and totally rugless.....as we understand that not all owners can provide shelter......so if you cannot provide shelter for your horse/s, and enough of a slow release food-source for the herd to keep warm as in 24/7 access to hay, you may need to consider a LIGHT WATERPROOF RUG for harsh weather conditions (that was not 6 layers and 3 rugs either though...lol :)) .
